About the Group

Young Bucks meet every other Thursday in and around South Yarra for a range of activities including game nights, soccer in the park, ten pin bowling, trivia nights and construction challenges, as well as discussion nights and movie screenings and are continuing to balance discussions and social activities based on member feedback.

Young Bucks is open to gay, bisexual or just plain curious men between the ages of 18 to 35, and each meeting averages between sixteen and twenty five individuals, with the wider membership base of the group ranges between sixty to a hundred individuals over any given year.

Young Bucks was formed in July 1998 to provide 18 to 30 year old gay & bisexual mean with a way to meeting other gay or bi guys outside the scene as most people know it. Originally based in the south eastern suburbs, the group moved to McKinnon in May 199 and then to South Yarra in June 2002 to make it easier for all Melbournians to reach us.

In 2009 the group decided to open the membership age to allow 18 to 35 year old gay & bisexual or just plain curious guys to join and placed a greater emphasis on social and recreational activities, although we continue to dicuss issues of genuine concern to young same-sex attracted men in a open, friendly and confidential manner.

Young Bucks aims to provide a forum for gay, bi or just plain curious guys to discuss issues of genuine concern about our lifestyles in an open and friendly yet confidential manner.

At Young Bucks, we are well aware that we exist within a wider community and continue to invite guests to address the group. Previous guest speakers include staff from Joy Melbourne 94.9FM, Victoria Police officers, members of PFLAG, Jamie from "Big Brother", and Daniel Witthaus of Beyond: That's So Gay.

Young Bucks is a social group run by its members for its members and your welfare is our priority.
